Pilipshen Colon and Rectal Surgical Services

Burlington Anesthesia Associates is proud to provide anesthesia care at Pilipshen Colon and Rectal Surgical Services.  Dr. Stephen Pilipshen is the esteemed Chairman of Surgery at Virtua Memorial Hospital.   At the center, the most common procedure is colonoscopy.   This procedure can be life saving since it can detect the early signs of colon cancer before it becomes serious.   Patients can be assured that this procedure can be done with complete comfort and safety.  One of the goals that Burlington Anesthesia Associates has in providing care for colonoscopy patients is to help create an outstanding patient experience.   With this experience patients should never worry when it comes time for their periodic examination.

Prior to the day of your procedure, you will be asked to fill out a medical questionnaire to provide your anesthesiologist with your medical background in advance.  This will be reviewed and any other pertinent medical information will be obtained and reviewed as well.

On the day of your procedure you will meet your anesthesiologist who will review your medical history and explain how your comfort will be provided.  Your questions will be answered and you will be asked to sign a consent form to give permission for anesthesia.

All of the same types of medical monitoring which would be used in the hospital are used during your procedure for your safety.  You will be given very soothing sedation and will be in a very relaxed and dreamy state of mind for the procedure.

Recovery is usually quick.  Once the criteria for discharge are met, you should be able to go home in comfort to relax in the company of a responsible adult.

If you have any questions feel free to contact our office.  An anesthesiologist will be happy to speak with you.

If you have questions about your procedure itself please contact Dr. Pilipshen's office.
