South Jersey Eye Physicians Surgical Center

Burlington Anesthesia Associates provides anesthesia services at the South Jersey Eye Physicians Surgical Center in Moorestown, New Jersey. We provide anesthesia for approximately 1500 surgical cases per year at their center. (Click here for website)

Each patient presenting for eye surgery completes a patient health survey prior to arriving at the center. The health survey is reviewed by the anesthesiologist before the patient’s surgical procedure.

On the day of the procedure, the patient’s medical history will be reviewed with the patient. After this assessment, the patient is taken to the operating room. Various monitors including EKG, blood pressure and pulse oximetry will be placed. Patients generally receive intravenous sedation which compliments topical eye drops. This type of anesthesia is very safe and there are rarely any side effects. Occasionally, patients may require deeper sedation which would enable the surgeon to administer a peribulbar block (injection of local anesthetic) to the eye. The vast majority of the procedures are for cataracts or for the treatment of glaucoma.

Upon completion of the surgery, the patient is taken to the recovery room. Once discharge criteria are met, patients are discharged in the company of an adult.

Burlington Anesthesia Associates aims to provide safe, state of the art anesthesia care for your procedure.
